2015 REUNION - Feb. 07-09

Picture
Roy Lammey (Secretary) presenting Paul Overly's special ring to Paul's son Tim.

The ring featured Paul's birthstone over the U.S. Navy symbol surrounded by the name of the ship.  One side said Daisy Mae, the ship's nickname; the other side had the gunner's mate symbol - a pair of crossed cannons.

Lost My Father

I dont no where to start. Over the past 2 weeks my life has been turned upside down. I knew the time would come that I would have to say goodbye to my father, but I did not want it to happen now or ever. Its been extremely difficult for my sister and myself, but I have seen how much my fathers life has meant to so many. I have made some decisions that were not the right ones to make. I did not think we would be able to have the reunion on dads property. I apoligize for the problems I have caused all of you in cancelling plans and then trying to rebook them. Im SORRY. I dont no how to thank all of you for helping pay for funeral expenses and also presenting me the ring that was going to be a suprise for my dad at the reunion. He would have been so overwhelmed with happiness and honored. I hope to see everyone of you at the last reunion in Mercer Pa. this year. It has been a pleasure in serving all of you during all the past reunions. My Dad is upstairs smiling down on all of his friends. Everyone that met him loved him. I am proud to say he was my father. He will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. I miss him so much. Thank you all again I dont no how I would have made it through this difficult time without the support from so many friends. I dont look at it like a Navy reunion I look at it like a family reunion. Looking forward to seeing all of you at the reunion.

Thanks your Shipmate always
Tim Overly SK3
